Blank Street Blueberry Matcha Recipe

Today I’ve got a really exciting recipe for you guys! It’s my Blank Street Blueberry Matcha recipe. I’m 95% certain that this is exactly how they make theirs. I’ve watched them like a hawk from across the counter and so I thought it was only right that I share the recipe with all with you.

What you’ll need…

You’re probably wondering how on earth I’ve managed to recreate the purple coloured milk which is so iconic, well the answer is Ube extract!! It adds the perfect colour to the drink and the taste is lovely too. My Blank Street Blueberry Matcha recipe is super similar to theirs and it’s because I’m using (what I think) are the ingredients they use. I also get a lot of questions about where I get my glasses and gadgets from which you can now find linked on my Amazon Storefront! I do also earn a small fee at no extra cost to you when you use one of my links!

  • Ube extract– I used the McCormick Ube extract which worked a treat!
  • Blueberry syrup– the 1183 Maison Routin blueberry syrup is the exact kind that they use in their stores and so it is a must have!
  • Vanilla syrup– any will work but my personal favourite is Monin’s Vanilla Syrup, I always buy the jumbo version as I find that its much better value for money!
  • Ceremonial grade matcha– really any will work however it is imperative that the matcha is ceremonial grade as this will ensure it doesn’t taste ‘grassy!’ A good quality matcha is miles better than a regular one so it’s really worth paying a little extra for the ceremonial kind. I used Perfect Ted Matcha

Ingredients

To make my iced blueberry matcha latte, you’ll need just a few ingredients:

  • 1 pump of vanilla syrup
  • 2 pumps of blueberry syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon ube extract
  • 1 teaspoon matcha powder
  • 5 tablespoons hot water
  • 180ml milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

1. Prepare the Blueberry milk

Begin by adding your milk to a glass and then add 2 pumps of blueberry syrup, 1 pump of vanilla syrup and 1/4 teaspoon of ube extract. Give that a stir and set aside.

2.Prepare the Matcha

Start by adding 2 tablespoons of hot water (not boiling, around 70°C). Using a milk frother or bamboo whisk (if you’re fancy), whisk the matcha and water together vigorously in a zigzag motion until the matcha is fully dissolved and a frothy layer forms on top.

3. Combine with Milk

Fill a tall glass with ice cubes. Pour the blueberry milk over the ice. You can use any type of milk you prefer, such as cow’s milk, almond milk, soy milk, or oat milk. Each type of milk will give your latte a slightly different flavor and texture, so feel free to experiment to find your favourite.

4. Add Matcha

Slowly pour the prepared matcha over the milk and ice. You’ll see a beautiful layering effect as the vibrant green matcha blends with the purple milk.

5. Stir and Enjoy

Before drinking, give your iced matcha latte a good stir to ensure the matcha is evenly mixed with the milk.
